From Jenna's account of her advice and care of a mother who appears to
have a very low breastmilk supply I would agree that she is right to be
quite concerned. Much and all as we don't like to have to give any baby
formula our first rule is always to 'feed the baby', hopefully while we
work out a way to 'fix the problem'.

Some questions I'd like to see answered are:
What's the baby's output? Or rather what was it before the mother started
formula. I feel that is so much more accurate a guide to intake than
test-weighing is. The baby was 8 days old if i recall correctly and weight
had plateaued. Well it wouldn't have plateaued if all the baby had been
getting was 0.3 to 0.5ml per feed - no way.

Other than doubting the validity of the test weighing (and the need to give
the mother a scale) I feel Jenna's management and intended management of
this mother and baby to be based on what is best for baby and mother.

Denise
