Georgette: I had surgery under general anesthesia. (My OB & my surgeon
couldn't tell the difference between a large, suddenly appearing plugged duct &
a tumor - but that's another story.) My baby was about 2 mos old & exclusively
BFd. Even in the "dark ages" of 1971, I was allowed to nurse him as soon as I
was alert enough to hold him, sit up in bed, etc. Nursing went well, even with
a drain tube hanging out the side of my breast.

LCs who are LLLs: In my area, there definitely ARE some who choose to be
intimidated by those of us who hold this dual role. They assume that, by
definition, Leader/LCs have a conflict of interest. The Leader who seems to
suffer most from this attitude has been heard to comment that "we" give the
impression the only "good" Leader is IBCLC. She has also complained about
people "using" LLL to qualify for the exam. I hardly think 20 years as a Leader
is "using League". The specific Leaders who have their noses out of joint have
not been around long enough to know that LLLI was an instrumental entity in
establishing the whole allied health field of LCs.
(My mind is made up. Don't confuse me with facts!) ;-)
