About a month ago, I noticed a large ad on the front of the CVS pharmacy
door for the store brand ABM. I went home and got copies of the WHO code and
explanation of why advertising ABM is against it. I asked to speak to the
Store Manager (she breastfed 3 kids) and the pharmacist. I told them that I
felt it was my obligation as LC to educate them. Told them that the next
time I come into the store, I EXPECT to see the ad off the door. It's gone
and I complemented everyone on doing their part. Yeah! If any of you notice
the ad for CVS ABM posted in the store, please take the time to inform them
of the WHO code.
Also, a local grocery store here called Ingles had a full page newspaper ad
for their Baby Club featuring a mother bottlefeeding. I emailed them that
we are trying to make breastfeeding the norm and that other supermarket baby
clubs are more "with it", since they just have cute logos and that most of
the mothers in our area are breastfeeding. Suggested they keep their cute
logo and omit the bottle. They did.
Feeling pretty accomplished here in Simpsonville, SC, where we are getting
too much of much needed rain.

Just back the LLLI Conf., visiting grandchildren in Ohio, and attending the
100 year Cleveland Indians memories game with my teenage sons. For you
Indians fans, I was pres of the Gary Bell Fan Club (he was elected to the top
100 players). To make this breastfeeding related, he has 3 daughters who
related to me that they have fond memories of breastfeeding their children.
