Dear Friends:

Another chilling post from a mother....

"I purchased a book called "the no cry sleep method" that has
some good ideas of how to gradually break your baby of some habits
interupting his (and our) sleep including helping him to not rely on
nursing to help him fall asleep, more structured nap time, etc. But
what it does not address is what to do when he screams when putting
him in the crib.
I try patting his back and reassuring him without picking him back up.
All he does is freak out and reach for me. I just cannot bear turning
my back on him and letting him cry hysterically.
He was sleeping through the night but since I've tried spacing his
daytime nursing sessions out a little bit in order to give myself more
time to work. I guess that now he may be hungrier at night. I
don't want him to continue to count on feeding in the middle of the night.
My pediatrician says to try to feed him LESS in the middle of the
night so that he begins to rely on it less and eat more in the
daytime. I haven't seen that working yet, after a week or so of trying
I will let him fuss and cry a little bit, but not into hysterics.

Please advise...."

Oh dear....

warmly,
