I am guessing you don't feel comfortable telling her that sometimes we can't
have our cake and eat it too. :O) I am sorry, I see this so much, moms that
don't think twice about getting pregnant when they have such time intensive
careers, and instead of putting the career on hold to be with a child that
will be grown before they know it, they choose the career. Now I am not
naive enough to think that all people can get by on one income.... oh wait,
that's a lie, priorities play a huge part. If you aren't willing to make
sacrifices to become a parent, then just don't become one. Ok.... please
don't start flaming me for this, I know it's on many people's minds but they
aren't willing to stir the pot and say something. I have a sister in law
who is lamenting about their infertility problems, whines to me constantly
and I ask "Trish, are you willing to stop smoking and drinking when you get
pregnant? are you aware that kids in smoking households have higher SIDS
rates? are you going to stick your child in daycare? or take the time to be
at home?" Let's just say that my mother calls me the resident sh*t
disturber. I am always making people think about things that they didn't
want to think about, or making them *feel* guilty (just wondering how I can
make people *feel* anything) about choices that they have made and now want
to justify.
