Hi,
I have a 35 week mom with mastitis. She has a fever, hard, red, hot breasts. her nipples has 'alittle crust' on them and are slightly inverted. Under one of her breasts she has a rash with peally skin, the skin is broken. presentlly she is on iv antibiodics and the hardness is subsiding but not gone completely. The midwife that is working with her has never seen this. (me eithor) the midwife said it was bacterial, I thought maybe it could be a yeast. (I didn't see the rash under her breast but when the midwife told my about it yeast poped into my head)
How's that for my first day! I stopped in and spoke with her to see if there was anything else I could learn from her. someone out there must have experienced this before. I've checked the archives so anyone out there with info let me know asap, I would love to take in some info tomorrow, I'm gonna hit the books now.

thanks
