This one is totally not clinical.

Recently we ran an BF education session for local agency reps. The response was well beyond what was expected and at the last minute we had to change sites. Even so the room we used was not the best and was very crowded.

The day prior to the event I received a call from a mom on mat leave who wanted to attend with infant. The day was not advertised or intended to be infant friendly. The space we had was a room attached to a business. The business itself was not open. There was a small washroom off and the foyer between the room and the outside door (about 0F at the time. I told the woman all this and that I wasn't confident that it was a very good spot for a mom and baby. At the end of our call she had not decided if she would attend or not.

At the event, I saw her colleague who proceeded to chastise me for making her friend unwelcome. My organizing committee feels the assessment I gave was correct. This woman has formally complained.

I have organized many of these events. In larger, better equipped sites, we've clearly been baby welcoming. This site did not strike me that way.

Any thoughts?

Judith
