     The cesarean section rate is turning around for many reasons, which have
already been mentioned.
     Some of it is based on shoddy research. A big study, the citation
escapes me now, purporting to show the "dangers" of VBAC, actually showed
that there wasn't much difference between groups as to uterine rupture,
EXCEPT the group receiving prostoglandins for induction, which had the
highest rate of rupture.
However, the medical community trumpeted this study to mean that VBAC was
just too dangerous.
     The truth is that induction is dangerous, which has been known for a
long time. Unless, of course it is for a truly medical reason such as
pre-eclampsia.
     As breastfeeding advocates, all we can do is work to get that mother and
 together as soon as possible. A film from the Philippines shows a baby being
held to breast while the mother is being stitched after a cesarean section.
