Hi All,
I hate to do this, but I need your collective help with a situation PJ and I
are going through and my brain isn't working right and I don't know where
else to turn.
PJ (just turned one) has hypoplastic enamel on his four top teeth. Two have
almost no enamel on the front, one has a large crack on the bottom half and
is about to fall off, and the 4th is showing serious signs of fagility. The
poor kids cries in pain each time I wash his teeth and has stopped using his
top teeth for biting, I assume, because it hurts too much. He is scheduled
to have 4 crowns (procelain) put on next Friday. He will be going under a
general anesthesia. Needless to say, I am worried sick about this whole
thing (tho some of my family members think I am overeacting.).
What I need is references (or maybe a website with specific info) related to
anesthesia and breastmilk (2 hours prior is OK, right?) in regards to
breastmilk being considered a clear liquid, how long before the anesth, and
how long after can a child BF. Also, if we have a DDS here who does this
type of procedure, would you mind sharing your expertise with me so that I
can better understand what will be happening to my child? Everytime I try
to talk to the Dr, I forget my questions and get too emotional (and break
down in tears) to ask what I need to. I feel really stupid about this as I
am usually in control of a situation and deal with the emotions after the
"crisis" not before or during. But I am having a really hard time with this
one. The Dr did say that since PJs teeth had not come down fully, that he
would have to go up nder the gum line and attach the crowns. I will try to
talk to him again and get more details, but would really appreciate any info
you might have on this so that I may be better informed.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
