It's been very interesting in watching the puppies nurse. Today, we noticed that the babies are starting to get tooth buds.. they are still under the gum line, but we can feel them. My daughter made the comment that she would hate to nurse seven puppies with teeth and I thought about that comment all night. Tonight, I was watching and noticed something... the puppies' tongues sticks out just beyond the gum line, so if the puppy is nursing correctly, the puppy cannot bite while nursing. What about that... same as humans. I videotaped a bit of it, it was so amazing. I am helping to make sure that the "smaller" puppies have enough time at the breast but they are all so huge at this point... The mother is not talking about who the daddy(s)? is (are), but with the way the babies are growing--they have doubled their birth weight/size, and they are two weeks old today/yesterday.
