Posting with permission from a tandem nursing mom:

A women that comes to our hospital based support group has been struggling with nursing her two-year-old and her eight-month-old since the birth of the eight-month-old. The younger child has little interest in nursing, but her older child would just nurse, and has little interest in solid foods. Her main concern is that she has hypothyroidism, and feels that when she stops taking her medication, her younger child will nurse better. She says that the baby will stay actively sucking and swallowing longer, and want to nurse more frequently. Her doctor has reassured her that her thyroid medication is only bringing her body up to normal levels, and thus should not interfere with the breastfeeding. Any thoughts or experience with this would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
