I had a call from a colleague today about a 7 month old baby who is having
episodes of flushing, perspiring and becoming unsettled during most
breastfeeds. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. The child is
otherwise well and not feverish, although a doctor who observed this event
just before a scheduled immunisation refused to immunise on the grounds that
the child "appeared to have fever".

The child is on some solids, but predominantly breastfed. First 2 teeth came
through a few weeks ago. Mother is a bit tired, run down and suffering from
hayfever, but not on any medication. Weather here is mild spring weather.

Has anyone come across this before? Its similarity to a hot flash of
menopause made us wonder about hormones. Allergy? Teething? Any other
ideas?

I am still overworked and nomail, so please CC me when you respond to the
list. Thanks.
