A milk transfer assessment is a good idea. Occasionally there will be an
infant who is stooling and voiding amounts that seem on target, but the
baby's weight will have stalled or gaining very slowly. The majority of the
time, the baby needs more frequent feeds, mom responding to ALL cues, and
not using a pacifier. So baby's intake is the first thing to look at.
Next, in my experience, would be a baby taking in enough volume, but having
a baby issue like cardiac, UTI, other sepsis.
Next, and especially in this case, would be a possibility of the nutrient
content of milk, such as what can be seen in a mother with gastric bypass
surgery.
Please keep us posted.
