Amen! I am due to re-certify in 2016 by exam for the 4th time! I will be 70 years old then and still feel highly competent and qualified
as I have worked continuously in the field and kept up both my ILCA and LLLI memberships since 1985, the year I first certified as an IBCLC.

I will be retiring from my WIC P/T job in the Fall. I too wish the Emeritus status were in place so I might continue to conribute.

There needs to be Emeritus status for people who have faithfully kept up their credential for at least 25 years and are now semi-retired and/or volunteering as IBCLCs. Or is sitting for the exam 3 times good enough?
