Dear Lactnetters,
     Apropos to the recent discussion, here are some references on
successful relactation after insufficient lactation leading to
hypernatremic dehydration, which may be of use to some of you:
   1. THULLEN JD. Mangement of hypernatremic dehydration due
     to insufficient lactation. Clin OPediatr Phila 1988 (Aug);
     27(8):370-372. [Recommends checking weight at 10-14 days
     as a precaution. Remember, lots of health professionals
     can't recognize adequate/inadequate milk flow - nor can
     mothers.]
   2. SOFER S, BEN-ESER D, DAGAN R. Early severe dehydration
     in young breast-fed newborn infants. Isr J Med Sci 1993;
     29:85-89.
          Happy New Year,
