Kathy,

You mentioned in a recent post that the "Chicago Hope" show last year, that
included so much breastfeeding "unfriendly" data, was sponsored by a formula
company--how did you discover this? I'm Media Watch coordinator for our
lactation consortium and I'm trying to put together a letter to "Law & Order"
that will pack a strong punch so if advertising sponsors are behind this
warped presentation of LC's, this would be good for me to know. TIA for any
light you can shed my way!

Also, I'm wondering what the rest of you think about larger organizations,
such as ILCA, ABM (American Academy of Breastfeeding) and the APA, LLLI, etc.
really taking a letter writing campaign on with this show as we all know how
much impact the media has on our already ensconced bottle feeding (ABM
feeding) society. It seems as if the letters written to "Chicago Hope",
"ER", etc. have little impact (though I intend to keep on writing!) and maybe
a whallop from larger organizations would help, too. Guess I just get
discouraged when our media watch heard a couple of years ago from a Ped who
consulted for ER and he was pleased with our praise (when Carla BF premie)
and stated he was in favor of BFing, and then they-ER- blows it with their
handling of Carol's twin birth and BF.

Appreciate other's views and suggestions, thanks!
