Carla,
The healing frenotomies I have seen have looked like a red line. They got
progressively less red as they healed.
I do not recommend finger exercises for babies who have had frenotomy
until the frenotomy heals. Baby probably won't want that sore mouth messed
with, and the risk of infection increases when someone is sticking their
fingers in the mouth. This might be what you have seen.
Since this LC referred to you, it is appropriate for you to call her
with your findings. "Thank you for referring so and so, I thought you'd be
interested in what I found and my recommendations..." is one non-threatening
way to phrase it.
It is not uncommon for babies to get hooked on fingerfeeding. In my
practice, 24 hours of cup feeding will often convince baby to try the breast
again when this occurs.
Good luck with this challenge.
