Dear Listmates, I am trying to find help for a new mom in the following area:

We are closer
to Tyler, TX or Longview, TX or Gladewater, TX. We are East Texas
on the Texas/Louisana border. Marshall, TX is about 1 hour due east of
us.

A grandma e mailed me from my web page (I usually don't do get into online
help, but.... anyway) and her daughter has a 9 day old with jaundice and the
babe was admitted at a few days of age for phototherapy and was told to stop
breastfeeding, level peaked around 19 ( I didn't save original post) level
went down with lites, no breastfeeding, formula and water for baby, mom went
home wants to breastfeed bad, they told her it was her milk causing the
problem. Theyreadmitted baby last night for a blood transfusion at the level
of 20.

Heres a snip of her post to me " His count jumped up to 20. They were
beginning preparations for blood transfusions. They took daddy's blood and
began processing it. They told my daughter that she could not breast feed
for 3 days. She just cries and cries when she has to give him that bottle.
She hates it. I bought her a breast pump and she has been pumping, but
the doctors told her to throw the milk out. They told her that there is an
"enzyme" in *HER* breast milk that is causing the problem. True/False???? "

If anyone out there can help her, lives near to that area, please contact me
asap and Ill put you in touch with her.....
Thanks so much for your help.

I think as Dr Jack says, this is, sacrificing Breastfeeding to ignorance?

Dr. Jon....... can you add this to your collection?

Cindy
