I agree with a lot of what the writer says.  I recently had a doctor go on a
little rant about one of his referrals, who cancelled her appt to see me and
weaned "because she lost her nipple shield."  He though that was so stupid
and she just wasn't very determined.  He hadn't talked to her long enough to
know her situation, but I had.  He made this comment in front of his wife,
and so we kind of teamed up on him about how lucky we felt that we had no
societal hurdles in our ways, personally, to keep us from bf as long as we
wanted to.

I found this line particularly telling:

*Nobody* can breastfeed without being tethered to an infant to some degree.
Being tethered to an infant is a *good* thing, and I despise it when
cultures that tell us that mothering at the breast is not important or worth
supporting.
