I do think that such an extensive peripheral neuropathology disease could indeed affect the nerves of breastfeeding. However, the decrease in feeding frequency (absence of night feeds) probably has the bigger effect. Exactly how long does the baby go without feeding, and how many good feeds does the baby take in the daytime? Sometimes these babies are only getting 4 or 5 feeds in a day. Does the baby take other complementary (solid) foods?

I see mother has tried various galactagogues. Perhaps she is not aware that these do not have a "track record" of great increases in milk supply. We all know that the cornerstone of increased milk production is increased feeding (or expressing). Most mothers have (I think I've read) about 1/3 more milk left in the breasts after a feeding (general guide) so having only 10 mls seems quite low. If her thyroid levels have not been checked lately, that could be contributory as well.

It seems a good strategy would be to respond to all feeding cues, no pacifier, offer breast frequently, sleep nearby and respond to light sleep and/or wake at night for 1 or more feeds. If appropriate (I think baby is around 6 months now) offer calorie dense appropriate complementary foods.
