Make it an interactive game. :-)

Pass out graph paper or a blank chart, so students can take notes. If
your population of students either would not get into the spirit of
sharing, or really would not be able to think of many benefits, you
might have a basket of cards with benefits on them to pass around until
the chart is full.

Ask your students, "Who benefits from breastfeeding?"
Write the answers across the top of a white board or whatever you have.
Answers should include baby, mom, dad, siblings, employers, local
community, and global community.
Ask your students, "What are some benefits to breastfeeding?"
Write answers down the left side of the board, and with each, ask, "Who
benefits from this?", and then, "Is this an immediate benefit, or a
long-term or future benefit?"
Write "N" for now, "L" for later, or "B" for both.

After the "game", give them a little pep talk, telling them that
breastfeeding is not always easy, and it is nice to have a list of
benefits to help us stay motivated through any challenges. Encourage
them to save their chart or hang it up on the fridge at home. If you
create a blank chart to fill in, maybe you could have some phone numbers
at the bottom for breastfeeding help.

Should I discuss benefits in the class? Usually the people who choose to come already are "sold" on breastfeeding. Then again I like to mention some of the not so typical health (and other) benefits so if things do get a little tough that the Mom's stick with it because formula is not "just as good", and given time they will see and feel the relationship of breastfeeding. As I see my 3 adult children (both sons and a daughter) embrace the idea of breastfeeding, it is what they saw and were exposed to when they were young. Many in our class did not have that exposure. Their exposure was bottle feeding and they have to learn about and experience breastfeeding through our information and their own experiences.
