I agree with Márta. I run an international facebook group for exchanging IBCLC exam information and it can be a challenge to keep the conversation useful and comprehensible for everyone. We have made a short list of acceptable acronyms (IBCLC, IBLCE, ILCA, etc) and we ask everyone to explain any other acronym in full the first time they use it in a message. 

I attended the recent European meeting of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine where communication is obviously a challenge with speakers from many different cultures and languages all using the one (English) and the opening message was, "If English is your first language, speak slowly". I think a message like that could be applied here too; "If you usually speak with acronyms, type slowly" :)
