I saw a 29 year old new mom the other day with her fourth baby. This
mother had a breast reduction surgery when she was 18 years old, but
states that she has been able to successfully breastfeed her other three
kids with absolutely no problems, due to the excellent technique of her
surgeon.

Her fourth child is one week old. The baby has lost one pound within
one week. Mom states she never felt her milk surge like she did the
other three times. She did lose lots of blood at delivery, but no
transfusion was necessary.

My question is, could this still be from the breast reduction surgery,
even though she was able to nurse her other three kids? Could scar
tissue have built up, blocking her milk ducts?

I was just wondering if anyone on the list has had a similar situation.
Man, I've seen a lot of moms lately who have had trouble with basic
lactogenesis. Frustrating!
