I am a military nurse and Lactation Specialist in Okinawa Japan. A local
Japanese hospital has asked us to help them with their breastfeeding
protocol. I am working with our Research Utilization Team (RUT) on
answering the following questions:

How often should a baby be fed in the initial postpartum stage ie first 24
hours? If you are excepting the idea cluster feedings how long is too
long in between feedings?

I need research articles or master's or doctoral thesis. The RUT wants
primarily peer reviewed journals. The board consists of Physicians,
Nurses, Advance Practice Nurses and not all with experience in
breastfeeding. There will be one LC on the panel. I have the WHO
bibliography for the 10 steps and several of those articles but I need more
current research, ideally in the last five years. Thank you very much for
your help on this.
