This morning I was looking at today's issue of the BMJ online, www.bmj.com Have a look at the advertising in boxes beside the News report, "NICE advises against caesarean section on demand". The last ad reads "Breastfeeding Secrets: Are you risking your baby's health? What most mothers don't know", with a link to www.betterBreastfeeding.com
I accessed the site and looked through the long blurb about the book advertised. I my view it conveys a very negative tone about the "risks" of breastfeeding. Anyone without a good knowledge of breastfeeding could think it a very high-risk behaviour.
Perhaps interested Lactnetters with medical degrees (and thus credibility with a medical audience) would like to follow up on this, both to the website and to the journal carrying the advertising.
Cheers,
Virginia
