There was a recent discussion of this (normal) phenomenon recently--I
think Alicia Dermer was the author of a nice post on the subject.  The
hair loss usually happens about 3 months post partum.  Hair loss isn't
directly associated with lactation as far as I know, but can be caused by
thyroid dysfunction, malnutrition, and (probably) extreme stress, any of
which can occur in the immediate post-partum period!
