Dear Lactnet,
I had a mom of twins with recurrent mastitis. She weighted 95 lbs (her
boys weighed 15 a piece by 4 months). She was anemic and still had the
injection bruises from her infertility treatments. We did the standard
stuff, along with me asking her to talk to her doctor about treating the
anemia-thanks Coach Smith!. What finally worked was a low dose of
antibiotics for months. She is still nursing them at 15 months. Wish I had
Jan Barger's remedy back then.

As far as the cancer mention, when I first started in this field a mom
presented with antepartum mastitis that proceeded to recurrent episodes of
postpartum mastitis. She was not our client. She was dead in a year of
ductal carcinoma.
