I find it fascinating that people in the US assume that bfing is an all
or nothing proposition, and that even health care providers would
assume that a nursing 3 year old isn't eating any other food. I guess
when all you see are babies nursing for 2-3 months before they graduate
to "real" food, then that is the norm and they assume that 3 year olds
are doing the same thing.
It is also interesting and rather sad that the idea of human milk not
being real food is so entrenched in American society.
We have a long way to go, but one by one mothers, fathers, doctors,
nurses will see real and long term breastfeeding in action and it will
become the way things are done.
