Hello Brilliant Lactnetters,

I have a last minute recertification question. I am trying to decide whether to recertify or not since I am not working. I am at home with my babies, homeschooling and I have an infant. I am fairly unlikely to go back to work in the next five years unless something catastrophic happened, and even then I have dual licensures/certification. I am an SLP which I will definitely maintain because it is difficult to recertify if I let that lapse and relatively cheap and easy to maintain. This would be my first time to recertify for IBCLC by test. How difficult would it be to recertify years down the road if I let it lapse now? Will I have to submit all the paperwork all over again? I really don’t want to do that! I am not worried about passing the test, it’s more the cost of the test and the challenges of childcare for the day that are giving me pause.

Thank you in advance,
Laura Wasielewski MS, CCC-SLP, IBCLC
