For those not in the USA the Ronald McDonald Houses are homes for temporary
housing when families have infants/children in hospitals nearby. Sponsored
by the McDonald's fast food chain.

Re the pumps: there is certainly a risk of infection with multiple users.
There could be some risk of liability if someone is hurt by using the pump
improperly on high suction for example or if someone or a baby gets an
infection. The solution, it would seem, would be to have a policy or a
guideline that is attached to the pump or a policy that is read and signed
by each user. Such a policy would cover proper setup and use, cleaning, etc.
Yes there should be a staff member in charge of cleaning the pump between
users. Mothers themselves can spray and wipe clean a pump before/after use
if properly instructed. They should wash hands verywell after cleaning the
pump. Proper use/cleaning of pump could be posted in the pump room if there
is one or attached to the pump. Each user can sign that they read it.
