<< Today I was contacted by several nursing mothers who were upset with your
 store (4) >>

I spoke at length with the manager of the store today. I had let the store
know that if I could not get a promise of changed policy for bf mothers,
stating that no mother would be harassed in this way again, that around 30
mothers would be there Tuesday morning for a nurse-in. I had contacted the
local paper to let them know that the story was unfolding and that such a
happening was a possibility. Mr. Jones tokk full responsibility for the
interaction with the mothers "getting out of hand", and said that he would
handle it differently in the future. He said that all associates had been
informed that any communication with nursing mothers about them breastfeeding
was to be limited to offering the ladies' dressing room, then leaving the
mother alone regardless of her decision.  Corporate policy was non-existent;
now it is that "mothers may nurse wherever they feel most comfortable." Mr.
Jones assured me that this would not happen again. He further said that his
wife was breastfeeding at the moment and had bf all 5 previous children, and
that he supported bf in general. He also stated that the clerk who asked the
mothers to stop nursing in the dressing room had been told this was
unacceptable and absolutely should not occur again. I told him that I thought
this would suffice for the *very* interested nursing moms in the community,
and that we would not be descending on him like a convention of wet nurses to
ruin Burlington's reputation. He said "well, thank goodness." LOL.!

Breastfeeding advocacy: one....backwards busybodies: zero!!!!
