i have sucessfully used stomach empyting times to support short fasting on
breast milk. I was asked on one occation to consider that emptying is slowed
under stress and so we added an hour to the 90 minutes given in lawrence for
stomach emptying....

i believe that not only is bm physiolgic it is also of a ph that is not
irritating to the system....aspirated bm will not ( in my understanding)
cause pneumonia...infant with reflux that are on bm ONLY do not experiece
pneumonia from aspiration...all other fluids will when aspirated cause
pneumonia...this is what i have been told.
