Hi All!

This AM, a big NY radio station (pop/rock music) had Paul Reiser on (via
phone) talking about the episode tonight.  One of the djs mentioned Ferber and
Mr. Reiser said they are not calling it that - just saying things they've read
in books.

To the gentleman's defense, he is looking at this show from an artistic
standpoint ONLY - not as a way to make a statement about parenting.  He kept
down playing the issue of Mabel's sleep and trying to point to the humor and
fun in the episode.  He said they had been looking for a way for the two main
characters to do a show with just them.  Having a wakeful baby afforded them
this opportunity. When asked if viewers would be given an answer tonight his
reply was - Answers and laughs!!!!

BUT - after the interview, the radio personalities began talking about Ferber
and what it was about and asked listeners who knew what it was to call in.
(Where was I? Sitting in the parking lot of a local Toys are Us waiting for it
to open!) A pediatric nurse practioner called in and sang the praises of
Ferber - even encouraging listeners to begin the "program" from day one! (You
can't spoil them at all!) (BTW - this nurse practioner has no children, but
will Ferberize any and all she does have - so she says.) When I got home, I
called in to comment and was literally "blown off" by the person answering
phones.  So I e-mailed the hosts of the show trying to correct some of the
misinformation - but I doubt it will do any good.

Isn't that a great way to start the day??? Hope the show is not what I'm
expecting.
