I'm with you Kathleen. The one I'm now beginning to hate is the situation where you work and work with a mom whose baby won't/can't breastfeed and find a temporary alternative feeding method. Key word=temporary. Once the crisis that heralded the problem is over and you get the baby feeding
reasonably well, you start talking about switching back to the breast at some point and the mom says, "Well, I think I'm just going to pump and give it to him/her in a bottle. I really mainly wanted him/her to get the breastmilk anyway. It doesn't matter to me how they get it." THAT, to me, is
the number one reason to use an SNS or cup and NOT a bottle. Around here, though, bottles are what they get sent home on if the problem began in the hospital. If the problem is identified after discharge, they usually have had a bottle before I see them. I am, more and more, emphasizing to
parents and staff alike, that breastfeeding is more than just a feeding method!

Marsha, what a fabulous idea! I've always been one to follow the "put up or shut up" philosophy. Either work on change or quit complaining. Except that, in this instance, the shared frustration provoked an absolutely brilliant idea! Besides the fact that we all need somewhere to blow off steam
from time to time, the exchange here highlights the need for movement in this arena and I for one will jump on board your change bandwagon!

Marsha, who enjoys sharing a name with this lady! She even spells it the same way!!!
