I will be seeing a mother tomorrow, so your comments would be appreciated greatly. Mom with 2-month old baby has been having no trouble with breastfeeding thus far and has recently developed onset of nipple pain on her right breast. She describes the nipple as white in appearance, and the areola is pale, puffy and smooth. The other breast has been pain free, but is beginning to become involved as well. She states that she has noticed this nipple turning purple after the feeding is over, but the pain is not as excruciating.

I am thinking Raynaud's but have never seen anyone who has had areolar involvement. Just wondering if any other LCs have seen this?? Would the areola become pale and puffy? Thank you!
