‎If she taking the same drugs that would be given to an infant with hIV , then breastfeeding should be fine, right?   If she isn't, could they switch her meds?

Subject: HIV needle stick injury

Hi,

Am posting an urgent question from another forum. I am on vacation so I
have no good access to anything but email so I'm asking without any
research.

An RN breastfeeding mother has accidentally stuck herself with a needle
used on an HIV patient (with low viral load, that's the info I have). She
(the nurse) has just began to take antoretroviral prophylaxis (2 drugs).
She has been told to pump and dump because no one knew what to do about her
breastfeeding.

Any protocols or insights are welcome, I will pass them on to her.

Kika
