Hi all,
In my experience as a newborn nursery nurse we nearly always had 20
babies to take care of between two of us. There were always several babies
crying. I was the rogue on staff who kept taking them out to their mothers.
Boy did I piss people off. The only other option was to listen to them
crying and be heart broken that they were starting their lives in such a
cold unloving unresponsive fashion. I also spent a lot of time holding
babies which again pssed people off (I should be doing something 'useful').
Keep on pushing for rooming in, the babies need our support to be with mum.
