Greetings all,

A friend of mine has a baby girl DOL4 - her third baby. She had a C-section
and just left the hospital earlier today - she had no lactation assistance
while in the hospital. Mature Milk has come in on DOL3 and this evening she
started bleeding from both nipples and one has become unbearably painful.
Up to this point, she has had only minor discomfort. She nursed both her
first children for a year and did not have these issues, although she had to
work on latch with baby #1. She is pretty happy with the latch on this baby
and can hear her swallowing and removing milk, and breasts are emptying
during feeds. I can not see for myself because she is across the country.

The variable this time is that she had a "mini-stroke" during pregnancy and
is on Lovenox (Enaxaperin) for at least 6 weeks postpartum. She bleeds when
she brushes her teeth and has somewhat frequent nosebleeds, so she wonders
if there is capillary bleeding of the nipples due to the suction. This
certainly seems logical to me, but I have no personal experience with this,
so thought I would put the question out to you fine folks. Does anyone have
any experience with this? She is going to try to find a local professional
to evaluate her latch for issues, but I told her I would explore this avenue
for her.

Thanks in advance for any help...
