Could it be the positioning that causes this? Sometimes when baby is at
breast, if mom has a strong let down and baby is lying with their head too
low, the milk will hit them in the soft palate and gag them. When bottle
feeding, baby is held upright and facing forward. Just my two cents worth.
    My youngest daughter, who still has a very sensitive gag reflex, was
bothered by this. We never tried giving her a bottle but I was careful to
have her head above her "gut" when we started to nurse if it was early in the
day. It didn't seem to bother her much at night because I think my supply was
a bit lower and the let down less forceful.
