Dear Ladies:
What a can of woupass I started.( Me shaking my head ).
You are all such fine women
No matter what capasity you work in Lactation you are all gifted.
It is a gift of skill, we feel it everytime latching goes right and
a mother smiles. She's waited all her life to have this experience.
You are Women helping Women, warm hearted, talented and
more, you are women helping babies and families, doing what
you know best, making an impact in their lives.
The women you help will never forget the care you gave them.
My message to the LL (I can't spell LaLec..too late at night) leaders and
the peer counselors who help the mothers once home from the hospital, you
overcome language barriers and correct many problems that start in the
hospital. God Bless you.
To the mother who finds a friend in need , most of the time this person is
a friend of a friend, she pumping milk daily for her baby in the NICU and
using a manual pump. Her baby came early. You see to it she gets your
electric pump to use as she needs,(with storage bags and new tubing and
flanges) God Bless you.
The hospital RN/LC who is asked to help out because it was a full moon last
night and babies are everywhere and you are needed in the nursery, and you
have 27 breastfeeding mothers to round on as well. God Bless You.
The MD who takes from her work the time to help a mother breastfeed,
because you the physician have nursed two children and pumped while working.
God Bless You.
To all you teachers, instructors, mentors who keep us up to date with
the newest research and skills. God Bless you.
Lastly, Bless you patients at the Good Shepherd Clinic, who laugh while
I take your Blood Pressure for the third time because I am still learning.
We are all learning. But, some days I do get the blood pressure
reading right the first time. Makes me smile.
One day maybe, we may have the chance to meet, have a cup of coffee and
talk lactation until the cows come home. Wouldn't that be grand.
