Hi all, I certainly need any input on this I can get, so please... think
with me!

Case: 28 year old woman, non-lactating, not pregnant has unilateral milky
discharge from right nipple. It's not a lot, just a drop or two when
compressing sinusses by hand. 'milk' seems to come out of only one or two
nipple pores. Breast/nipple do not hurt. With palpation she feels the
alveoli, but no different than before the discharge started. The fluid is
milky, looks somewhat between colostrum and mature milk, white/yellowish in
color.
She's breastfed her 8 year old for the first week only. But that was eight
years ago. Never had something like this before......
She teaches parents how to hand express and demonstrates it on herself
(through her clothes).
She's taking birth control pills for years now, is having normal subsequent
periods etc.


What I really like to know is the following......

1. Could this be kind of like an 'induced lactation' by demonstrating so
often how to hand express ............. ?

2. Could it be an intraductal papiloma (sp?)..........?

3. Could it be caused by the birth control pills..........?

4. What should she do about it ? What is the best way to check whether it is
benign or not ( mammogram, ultrasound, cytology of 'secretion' or something
else).
