I'm not finding any statement about LLLLs receiving higher scores -- it
seems to me everyone I have heard it from is an LLLL / IBCLC, which I
could take to mean either that they were encouraging me or they know
whereof they speak :-)
I did find some interesting info. in the basic text (R & A), though:
"Although there was no correlation between educational attainment and
test scores in the first year of the examination, in subsequent years a
baccalaureate (or higher) degree was significantly related to higher
test scores. Among nonnurses, however, an inverse relationship exists
between education and test performance." Lest I fear posting my PhD
credentials, however, "The authors of the first evaluation of
certification candidates ... speculated that the pass rate would decline
as the backgrounds of the candidates broadened to include individuals
with fewer years of clinical experience prior to their taking the
examination. As can be seen in Table 22-1, this did not happen." It
should be noted, however, that LLLL representation and clinical
experience declined at the same rate. Neither have much to do with the
overall competency of the profession, as far as we can see here.
Jo-Anne, posting as Jo-Anne :-)
