What kind of pump is she using? If she's not already doing so, using a hospital grade pump may help increase her yield. I would say at 7 weeks, a baby is still often eating every 2 - 3 hours day & night so that would be more like 9 or 10 times in 24 hours. I would definitely try to increase how frequently she pumps. Is she using a new pump? If she borrowed one or is using a second-hand pump, it could be that the motor is starting to die and her yield may go up with a new pump. Also, she may be stressing over her baby's illness and her inability to make enough. Worrying about how much she's pumping could in & of itself be preventing her from getting a good let-down. Is she using the typical methods to try to relax - having something of baby's close to her, looking at a picture of him, trying to close her eyes & do some relaxing breathing while pumping? I feel for her - I had to pump for my newborn son when he was on life support and while I didn't have supply issues, it was really tough to have to pump instead of being able to nurse him.
