Karen posted -- among other things:

), but thank heavens I didn't have to worry about 24/7 milk expression
via anything but baby/babies! (This includes my unmedicated, home birth
baby
who didn't latch for the 1st 24 hours.)>>

I resonated with your entire post. It was superb!!! And it took my
unmedicated, homebirth baby 5 days to finally "get it" and latch.

Ah Timothy -- the reason I'm a lactation consultant.

I manually expressed for number 2 when I went back to work at the birthing
center. Not fun -- but my other choice was a bicycle horn pump. My
sister could express lots of milk with it painlessly. Not me..... (Always was
jealous of my sister...)

My first question to moms who tell me they have a really good double pump
is: "How old is it, and how many people used it before you?"

Karen -- you said something about you wondered about current manufacturing
of the nameless pump. Good point -- I agree that they don't seem to be as
good as they were several years ago. Wonder if the more bells & whistles
that are added decreases the functionality of the pump itself?
