Have heard of this sort of gooey stuff before.  It is probably milk that has 
thickened because it was bottled up (didn't want to say bottled up, but you 
know what I mean, LOL).  Haven 't heard it bothered baby at all.  Just 
bothers us.  I would massage gently and if it starts to feel sore, stop for 
the time being and try again after more warm compresses.  I remember camping 
out on couch with a heating pad on.  I didn't express (back in those days) 
so I never knew what the milk looked like behind a plug.  Pat
