For allergic families, it is generally recommended that parents wait at
least three to five years before considering the introduction of sesame
and nut products, as allergy to these is common and often anaphylactic.
Infants have no way to tell you that their throat is closing over and
they feel dizzy.

When upping caloric intake gently for my petite son, we chose to add  a
dash of olive oil to all homemade foods, introduce meats fairly early
(chicken and lamb), and offer lots of avocado as well as plenty of
breastmilk. He's happily trundling along on the tenth centile, and
perfectly healthy there.
