this can also be an indicator of a short frenulum. see the breastfeeding
answer book1997 edition p. 69 - "Difficulty staying on the breast and a
clicking sound during nursing are signs that the baby is not able to
maintain proper suction at the breast ......and should be checked for a
short frenulum as well as other possible causes."
