Hi all--I have enjoyed the discussion of biblical stance on
breastfeeding/parenting vs. the absurdities of the popular 'bible-based"
parenting curriculum. Thought I would throw in my favorite bible quote about
bf; I am not particularly religious but this quote is compelling. PS for a
cogent overview of ancient Israelite feeding practices see Kathy Dettwyler's
homepage. It is enlightening.

Here's the set up for the quote: apparently God is extremely upset with the
people of Jerusalem, and he is elucidating just how bad they are, and here is
one of his examples.

"Even the sea monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young
ones: the daughter of my people is become exceedingly cruel, like the
ostriches in the wilderness. The tongues of the sucking child cleaveth to the
roof his mouth for thirst..." Lamentations 4, verse 3. (King James version)

Pretty clear, huh?
