I remember seeing a report on a European study several years ago
regarding concerns with phytoestrogens in soy ABM. As I recall, the
researchers there were not so restrained in their expression of concerns
that it may cause harm to babies.
Anyway, every time I read something about the indications for use
of a soy ABM product, the parents' desire to maintain a vegan diet is
mentioned. Now...I realize that we cannot generalize and that there are
many factors at work here, but the vegan families that I have known
(quite a few) maintain this lifestyle out of the desire to avoid all
animal products for health reasons, ecology conciousness, religious
beliefs or a combination of the above. Given the health and ecological
concerns upon which most vegans base this decision, why wouldn't a
mother who was a vegan be *breastfeeding*???? Is there something here
that I am missing??
