This is one email to comment on a few previous postings....

Regarding the 8 Tylenol - I would presume that that would be over the
period of 24 hours - ie 2 tabs 6 hourly. If liver function is normal this
shouldn't cause undue concern for the mother. The tiny bit of drug the
infant would receive from the breastmilk would be far less detrimental to
the infant than the formula which the mother now has to give because she
can't stand the pain. The vasospasm she is experiencing *may* be being
caused by the nipple damage secondary to poor suck caused by the short
frenulum. If this is the case I don't think Nifedipine would be the
solution ... fixing the tongue tie would. Good luck with the dentist :-)

Katherine you can add me to your list of LCs who are also concerned about
infrequent stooling in the first 6 to 8 weeks. Each time I have seen this
it has proven to be a long-term problem for the child. Allergy hasn't been
my experience though - large bowel problems have been the cause.

Martha I think this is the link you are looking
for: http://www.unicef.org/ffl/04/6.htm Have a read of it ... I'm pretty
sure they list the preferred order of supplementation.

Sandy and/or Catherine regarding essential fatty acid supplements ... my
sister used to take Evening Primrose Oil, but now she swears by Star Flower
instead. Do you know anything about this?

Thanks all
Denise
